Have Party; Will Travel

It’s almost here – New Year's Eve - the one night a year I stay out past 10pm. What to do? I’m open to any and all suggestions, but remember – events need to be located in the greater Tampa Bay area, require a reason to dress up, and involve people who can discuss something other than ways to fry dead animals. That's not too much to ask, is it?

In the meantime, take a look at the best homemade Chanukah gifts ever.

What little artists! I love the themed nights of Hanukkah. I think you should have submitted that to NPR. A while back, you had a blog on books. I was intersted in knowing what good reads you recommend as I have a gift certificate to Borders! In return, there's two books I just finished I think you'd find a good read. One is called "Early Bird" and the other is called "Nickel and Dimed. On (Not) getting by in America". Look 'em up on Amazon.com My 90 year-old grandfather belongs to a book club and gave me "Kite Flyer" which was a good read also. Happy Hanukkah to you and family!

I've wanted to read Nickel and Dimed for a while now and just haven't gotten around to it. Thanks for reminding me!! :-)

I like Al Franken's new book and have you read the Da Vinci Code yet? I know it's been out for a year or so now, but if you haven't read it I highly recommend it. And I'm just starting Truth and Duty by Mary Mapes. Good stuff.

You guys have a wonderful holiday as well. :-)

Interesting tidbit: The boys made these plates separately.

Oooohhhh, creepy-twin bond....

Mad Love for Al Franken. Are you up late enough to watch The Daily Show or the Cobert report? Sometimes they have interesting authors and I get their books as well. Jimmy Carter has one out I'd like to read.

You mentioned that your twins made their plates independently. Their brains must be wired the same way. Reminds me of a second book I just started, "The New Feminine Brain". Starts off a little New-agey, but has some relevant info. on how our (we as mothers) brains are wired today as compared to our ancestors. Check out the review on Amazon!

Oh and as for your earlier reference on Furby. OY VEY. All the cousins showed up with one. Did you know if they face each other they hold a conversation? I believe this "thing" has MIT technology in it. The fucking thing talks endlessly all day. In addition, one cousin had a cat that purred and swatted at a toy and a dog that took real commands. My real dog sat next to it all night. Next all I'll need is a Rhomba to vacuum up the real and fake pet dander.
