Calling Concerned Dems
Fellow Floridians: Call Senator Bill Nelson and tell him to support John Kerry and Ted Kennedy. Filibuster Alito right out of consideration.
If you're living large somewhere far from the Sunshine State, here's information on your Senators and ways to contact them via Main St. USA :

Below are numbers for the various offices. However, many of the voicemails are full, so use other numbers, fax, and e-mail. Please do this no matter where you live in the U.S. (And no, you don't need to lie about where you live. If they ask, be honest. If they don't, fine.) Did it.
Kate, Kate. You went through a lot of trouble for something you had to know didn't stand a chance. Besides, there is not a single reason for Alito to not be confirmed other than he's a Republican. I've never took you to be one of those "straight ticket" types. Say it ain't so.
Guess the whole phone calling thing didn't work out for ya.
Not a fan of Alito and had to say so. Had to do my part. Even if it is a lost cause.
Story of my life.
Mr H
I can think of several reasons not to confirm Alito, but none have to do specifically with his party affiliation.
He is a corporatist, if being a corporatist is a prerequisite for being a Republican - than his party affiliation is enough reason to NOT vote for him.
I jest, but my point is clear.
Here is a quote which backs up my point,
"Officials at the National Association of Manufacturers and the United States Chamber of Commerce said that as they combed through his record, they had been favorably impressed with what they had learned.
"He has come down on a host of issues in a way that the business community would prefer," said Robin Conrad, senior vice president of the National Chamber Litigation Center, the legal arm of the United States Chamber of Commerce, who has been researching Judge Alito's opinions. "This is not a guy who is going to go off the reservation."
Kate is not being a "straight ticket type". Her concerns, likely with her family and community, are justified.
What he said. ;-)
If Alito is so corporately influenced, why on earth would a large company such as Planned Parenthood oppose him being on the Supreme Court? Oh yeah... because he will put FAMILY first, and THEM out of business.. =) Shux.
And yet- you called the Republicans selfish??? I'm sorry, but if you feel that your family and your community comes first, then why would you oppose someone who supports human rights? The freedom of life..and the freedom of self defense (2nd amendment)..happen to be the least oppressing rights and freedoms human beings can retain!!!
