Happy Anniversary

As Dubya tries to celebrate three years of lying to the American public and shortchanging our country's soldiers, I thought I'd re-run this post from a few weeks ago. I've been getting interesting comments from people on the subject of IRR. Everyone should read them before toasting a job well done. No one really believes that Iraq has been handled well, do they?

Didn't think so.

I love this attack. She must be upset that Hussein is no longer in power, she's against the war!

Please do us a favor Stacy, and hand that ridiculous argument back to the right-wing mouthpiece (Rush, Glenn Beck, Hannity, etc) that gave it to you. I don't think I could find one American who could say they thought Hussein was a good and decent leader of his country without either cracking up laughing or being strapped into their nice white coat with extra-long sleeves and shiny buckles.

This has nothing to do with Hussein being a bad guy. He is. His list of egregious offenses (and those done in his name) is long, and that guy can't suffer a worse enough fate.

The problem many people have with the war is, it was brought on with bad information and false pretenses. You can argue about who knew what, and when they knew it. (For instance, I'm not convinced that Bush knew he had bad information. But I'm hard pressed to believe that there was nobody in his chain of command who didn't know that something was fishy. Mmm...double negatives. But I digress.) But you can't say that there wasn't some degree of flim-flammery brought on as a result of this administrations desire to make war in Iraq.

And don't tell me that this was their "last resort". You don't go to the UN and lay out all this "indisputable" evidence (quotes used to indicate sarcasm only) about a WMD program and Al Queda ties to get everyone all ramped up for security council sanctions. It was always about attempting to install democracy in the Middle East, and kicking the teeth in of the man who's been mooning the US from behind the 41st parallel for well over a decade.

Save your rhetoric. Nobody here believes you for an instant.

She's grasping at straws. What's most mind-boggling is listening to conservatives insist it's our job to bring democracy elsewhere when just a few short years ago, they insisted quite the opposite. Dubya himself said we shouldn't police the world when he was running for office. Funny how things change.

I also have a problem with an administration filled with people who had "other priorities" than to serve in the military, yet no qualms about sending in others' children to do a job that they can't even get straight.

Repubs who defend such actions are really going against their own beliefs. One day soon you'll wake up and hate yourself. Can't wait.

Kate, you know I've always been fair and honest in our discussions but I must say - You're starting to sound like one of the whackos on the left - say it ain't so.

Still not hating myself (or anyone else)-

Mr. H

I have failed in my basic research on the subject. I am shamed.

Actually, I just didn't bother to click the profile link. Assume just one thing...
