BooYeah
Jeb! tried but the Senate slapped him down and rejected efforts to repeal voter-approved smaller class sizes. Only six Republicans had the nerve to stand with Democrats and defeat a proposal that Bush put his considerable weight behind. These brave legislators and the majority of Florida voters understand that our kids have a right to a quality education in less-crowded classrooms.
If you were one of the activists who made phone calls or put pressure on Tallahassee to get behind the will of the people, congratulate yourself. Job well done.

The reason these six Senator's voted the way they did had nothing to do with your activism. They were mad at the other republican senators for not supporting their choice for Senate President-Senator Villalobos. Six crybabies who aren't getting what they want is why this failed.
Suggesting that activists raising their voices with surprising unity alongside regular Floridians who VOTED FOR THIS just a few years ago - has nothing to do with the way Repubs vote is funny. And by "funny" I mean "sad". But you said it - the Republican Senators couldn't care less how the people felt. They vote because they pout.
Fine. I don't care what their motives were - I'm just glad Jeb! got his ass handed to him. For whatever reason. Our kids are the real winners here.
Since when have the republicans EVER cared what the people want? They are interested in manipulating the people to vote for them by using emotional hotbutton issues. Once they get in power then they get down to the nitty gritty of destroying our civic institutions, and supporting their big donors. Pardon the cynical attitude. The same things happened in Greece and Rome just before those societies collapsed too.
Don't ask neocons to absorb the lessons of history. What does it matter? According to our Preznit, history is irrelevant because "we'll all be dead" anyway.
