I got to the party and I did the Smurf

I wasn't going to vote early. Arriving at the polls before September 5th seemed like a major buzz kill. Remember when you'd have a bithday party the weekend before? Then when your actual birthday arrived, you still wanted spanks and free drinks, right? And people were all, "What? We've already had the party. Scram."

I enjoy Election Day festivities: getting up early, waiting in line, arguing with mouthbreathers about property taxes, discussing anti-war sentiment with crazy veterans, voting, pressuring co-workers to see things my way, staying up late watching returns, and celebrating a Davis victory.

Then Joel made some great points and now I'm probably going to end up voting ahead of time anyway. I can still celebrate a week from today, though. Nobody's taking that away from me.

Okay, a few notes (I'm first, wheee!) ...

Monday's blog, "military decline" ... Uh, it's like, really long ... like, umm, a rant or something ... so, like, it was hard. I don't have that kind of attention span.

And The Boy Scouts ... okay, if the twins can't be Boy Scouts, you should move to Colorado and make them trail runners. I can think of nothing better for a boy's development than running an ultramarathon on the trails .. Hey, that Pike's Peak trail would be nuthin' for them. I'll pick 'em up at 6 a.m, Dec. 19. Tell them to bring water and cabohydrate gels, and NOBODY likes a whiner. I don't care if you're gay, straight or a goat-banger: you can hang for a run up Pike's Peak, you're good people.

Finally, YOU'RE MISSING THE JONBENET FUN ... and you thought Boulder was sane?

Big smiles, lots of overtime, all around.

Goat banger? That alone made the orange juice come back out the wrong way. Good stuff.
