We Gotta Keep it Goin' On
Tonight Jim Davis and his opponent square off against one another in a prime-time debate found locally on Channel 3 (WEDU) at 8pm. Several journalists will pose questions for about an hour and I predict that Jim will shine as the more polished, intelligent and capable leader.
I appreciate the oppportunity to watch Democratic candidates argue the issues; however, I wonder how many undecideds will tune in. Do they even watch debates? We are about two weeks away from the primary with many different ways exisisting to get to know these men and yet many people remain clueless. I hope they watch tonight and come closer to a decision. Time is running out.
Lost isn't on, is it? Then we're screwed.

The problem I have with debates is that they degenerate quickly into campaign ads and/or fights. I guess the problem is really the problem with politics as a whole. No one just talks anymore. Candidates have a platform, and they speak from it. They just regugitate the canned responses to the hot-button questions. And if, heaven forbid, someone comes out of nowhere and asks a question not found in the FAQ of their website, the candidates generally stammer a bit and say that the issue "deserves thought" before they can give an answer.
Which basically tells me that the issue is not important enough to them to have a pre-planned response. Therefore, it will receive little or no attention during their tenure.
That reminds me, I sent an email to J-Dizzy's staff asking about his transportation plan (oh about a month ago) and got nothing back. Think you can help me out there? kthxbye.
(That was poorly constructed, sorry)
What was your transportation question? I know people who know people who know people, you know.
I will keep an ear out tonight for those kinds of responses. We'll see how it goes.
The Democratic debate on the same night Lost usually airs. That's too funny.

"TRANSPORTATION: Florida's growth requires that we have a strong statewide transportation system. It is critical for our economy, for our businesses, and for our families. Yet our roads and infrastructure are not keeping pace. The Bush administration has raided the Transportation Trust Fund and diverted hundreds of millions of dollars from much-needed transportation projects. Jim Davis will stop the raid on the Transportation Trust Fund, and fully use allocated transportation dollars for Florida's transportation needs."
Above is the sum total of what I can find regarding your views on transportation. Do you have a plan? Or just "Do The Opposite of the Nearest Bush".
I'm just on the cusp of throwing my support behind the Davis campaign. However, if you folks can't come up with something better than this in transportation I'm going to have to re-evaluate my decision. Not that you'd care about one vote from a moderate citizen or anything.

There you go...
To clarify the plan menioned above:
The trust fund diversions occured during the 2003 Legislative Session. Since then, the state has not diverted trust fund monies, but rather has spent surplus revenue on trasnportation, specifically on the Strategic Intermodal System. As far as trasnportation funding is concerned, the state has done a pretty good job the past 2 years. The shortfall, though, is at the local level. A better question to ask all 4 candidates is where they stand on local funding options for transportation, such as the Local Option Rental Car Surcharge legislation that was vetoed by Governor Bush.

I apologize for the misspellings above. That's my pet peeve.
BTW - "Shove Luke up your arse." That's hilarious. I'm still laughing.
Darling Jeff - this is what I was able to find out: Rod voted to raid the transportation fund and Jim will spend the money necessary to keep our roads in good shape. I think this is another example where special interests in Tallahassee have taken priority over the lives of everyday Floridians. Don't you? Jim has OUR best interests at heart and that would be a nice change of pace.
Thanks, Bob. If I can make you laugh once in a while...;-)
Jim did a great job in tonight's debate. He looked like a governor while Rod looked like a used car salesman. Thanks but no thanks.
Jim's poise, confidence, and intelligence is shining through. I loved his answers to the questions posed and am so proud to support him.
Vote for Jim here:http://www.sayfiereview.com/
Then head to the polls and vote for real!
he's the King of Boggle, there is none higher
he got eleven points off the word Quagmire.
Nice run you got going, how long will it go???
Exactly what John F said. Where is the plan for mass transit?
Keeping current roads, well, current is an admirable goal. However, alternative transportation is something we need desperately. And so far no one has mentioned any plans for anything of the sort.
And by the way, the bullet train is NOT mass transit.
