That's How it Goes

Last year, I bellyached about how kosher laws aren't nearly as humane as I had hoped. Landed me on the front page of The Tampa Tribune, thankyouverymuch.

Apparently someone's listening.

Besides God and Jeff Houck, I mean.

An exerpt from this must-read article -

While Jews are a small percent of the world's people and thereby responsible for
only a small part of the problems related to modern intensive livestock
agriculture and other current practices, it is essential, in view of the many
threats to humanity today, that we strive to fulfill our challenge to be a
"light unto the nations," and to work for "tikkun olam," the healing, repair,
and proper transformation of the world.

Eco-kashrut brings ancient law into the modern world and makes it relevant. Reminds us that eating is a holy act. Or should be anyway.

:-)

happy belated b-day ... snow in the mountains, chilly and windy on the front range ... The Christmas (okay, "holiday") lights are already up in downtown Denver ... winter in the air ... can't you just rent your house?

I wish. No, the house is for rent and for sale. No one's bitin'.

So sad.

I was flipping channels yesterday and caught a minute of Hulk Hogan's reality show on VH-1. Apparently, the Hogans had just moved to Miami and wanted to throw a party for the neighborhood. Aaaah, but "most of this neighborhood is Jewish so we need kosher food!"

They had no idea what kosher even meant and it was painfully hilarious to watch them try to find out.

This has nothing to do with your post, really, but I'll never pass up the opportunity to make fun of stupid reality TV shows.
