Smoke the Holy Chalice
This child's views on culture and religion is causing quite an uproar. Of course, Bill O'Reilly is crying child abuse.
Watch this trailer and weigh in: Is there a difference between the two?
Which is worse?
Explain it to me, please. I'd love for you to try.

That kid that O'Reilly is talking about, was clearly brainwashed by the parents. She has incredible lies within it. Let me explain.
Check history. The republican party was NOT the party of the KKK, the democrat party extremists started it, overthrew republican govts in the late 1800's b/c they wanted to keep blacks as slaves. The republican party was started by Lincoln to end slavery.
If you dont believe it, check historical records.
She's comparing the three (KKK, Nazis, Repubs) by saying they killed (or are killing) people due to religious reasons/prejudices.
And what kid isn't brainwashed by their parents at that age?
It's just wrong when you disagree with the message, is my point.
Way to go completely off subject.
Why is that Fox News and neocons everywhere are up in arms over this child, but say nothing when kids are pimped on the big screen in the name of Jesus?
Both are disturbing, but this little girl on YouTube says more that I agree with than the holy rollers.
Well Im prolly off subject b/c my computer blocks all streaming videos, and I have not seen the other video. Im not up in arms, i dont care at all. But thats just me.
Oreilly, while being quite independent overall, is quite traditional in the social sense, so he gets up in arms in things like this. He directs his own show, so hence him talking about it.
Kids are kids, and their parents will tell them lots of false crap. I worry more about truthfully informing these kids when they become adults.
I used to wish the O'Reilly haters would just quit mentioning his name, but then I wondered what mischief he and his minions could get into if he didn't spend so much time googling himself and sifting through Youtube for references.
But back to your question-
The big difference, memorized lines vs. scary belief. Although denials will probably be issued, it seems pretty clear Child 1 is an actor, in a slickly produced work that is one of the Bastard Fairies music collective's many salvos against "the man." Their latest work is available for free download. (As with all actors she may believe the lines she's saying, but maybe not. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw her on a Law and Order episode shortly. Imagine "ripped from the headlines" storyline with actual headline maker in supporting role.)
On the other hand, Jesus Camp is a docmentary and those kids believe, as much as kids at that age can. Davide Byrne wrote a great commentary about the Jesus Camp film on his blog back in August. An excerpt: "The documentary juxtaposes scenes of an Air America radio call-in guy, a former preacher himself — who rants against this version of Christianity. These scenes seemed almost unnecessary, as to many of us in the audience Becky (the female preacher who runs the camp) was pretty much indicting herself, though she wouldn’t see it that way. But they did give some relief from the scary view of the heartland as harboring an army in formation. Zombies from the wheat fields.
Sad, as the heartland and areas untouched by the big city sicknesses are also the home of much practical down-to-earth wisdom. Wisdom borne of the land and of experience, unsullied by the trendy political and ethical philosophies that periodically sweep the urban jungles." (from his journal on www.davidbyrne.com)
BTW Kate, Jesus Camp spends some time with the folks in Colorado Springs and Littleton.
All parents indoctrinate (or brainwash if you prefer) their children with their own beliefs systems regardless of whether they may be fundamentalist religious beliefs, liberal politics, or apathy. The trick is teaching our children to apply some critical thinking and tolerance when they are deciding what side they’re on. My personal belief is many religious groups do not allow for this type of critical thinking and in many ways, critical thinking is fundamentally antithetical to religious beliefs. And while liberals often fall victim to intolerance and myopic thinking, the general impetus of progressive thinking is tolerance and understanding. I think this little girl was most definitely coached by her parents or whoever made this video, but she makes some good points that social niceties force many of us to keep to ourselves. First and foremost, many of the atrocities of history are rooted in religious beliefs and causes and rather than excusing them as actions of “extremists” they are in fact integral to religion and the religious mindset. This is why I am much more frightened by the “Jesus Camp” video than this little girl. You can reason with a liberal who may be a little sensationalistic in their presentation but you cannot reason with an individual who has dedicated themselves to dogmatic beliefs canonized in “holy” scriptures.
Yeah, PT, I'm going to get out there and shake some sh*t up.
I'm less frightened by this girl as well. And the clips O'Reilly played were more shocking out of context. Played together with the rest of her message (while I don't believe she needed to use profanity) - it wasn't so bad. Much of what she said was true.
But what do I know? I still say Happy Holidays to people.
She sure was slick for an 8 year old. Very talented, but too slick to be real.
I do agree with much of what she says and I am Christian. However, I was appalled that someone would teach their children to use the such bad language and then videotape it and broadcast it to the world.
Oh I forgot to say Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!
That Happy Holidays stuff is BS.
