Do you really want to prevent abortions? Let's see...

From NARAL:

Prevention First Act will help prevent unintended pregnancies, thereby reducing the need for abortion, and improve women's health.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) are the chief sponsors of the bill, which also has the support of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and many others.

Prevention First means honest, realistic sex education for our teens; better access to birth control, including emergency contraception, for women; and improved family-planning services for couples who may not otherwise have access to a doctor.

It's positive and powerful!

With the new Congress, we can find common ground on abortion and help to prevent unintended pregnancies. Contact your members of Congress in support of the Prevention First Act.

How refreshing that our legislators are doing the business of the people for a change, rather than the bidding of multinationals. Let’s hope those less enthusiastic about the bill will either yield to its common sense approach or offer a better plan.

I would like to see something offered to the young person who may not want an abortion or to keep the baby. We already pay people for surrogate pregnancies; how about we pay for prenatal care and other necessities if she wants to provide for adoption.

goader, and the bill,

amen from me for the most part. I like goaders idea as well for the adoption. I am also in favor of making the morning after pill easier to get, for it is much better than the alternative that the pregnant women do, abortion. I believe the more people take the morning after pill, the less abortions will take place, so that gets my vote.
