In our Minnesota cabin we have two carpets that the husband bought on Chicken Street in Kabul not too long after the Taliban fell. He was able to go there without security on his off time. The merchants were not just hopeful that better times would arrive, they had arrived. Girls were going to school.
I hope, but have no reason to believe, that the president and all would be presidents have learned a lesson in Iraq. Not a lesson about how to conduct a war, but whether to get into one in the first place.
Beautiful pictures, but isn't that a Cat Stevens song? I can't help but see the irony in that!
