What Not To Miss About Tampa Bay

So far, I'm still leaving. And I've gone over all that I will miss about this area.

However, to remain fair and balanced, I will not miss...

horny bugs.

rednecks.

humidity.

you.

But it's not about you with regards to the Confederate battle flag. It's about the culture as a whole and people as a whole.

That's like saying "we should personally always think of the swastika as a symbol from buddhism which it originated. It's not a symbol of hate despite what the Germans made you believe."

You left out one thing, Florida's complete lack of giant rabbits.

Regarding the confederate flag - it represents the values of people who took up arms against the United States of America. The same people who wave that flag denounce the Dixie Chicks and I hope they choke on their own hypocrisy.

That's my point.

I disagree, it is about me and how I view it. If I were to fly the flag and other people didn't take the time to ask me what I meant by it but rather assumed they thought they knew, then that's their problem. If they take the time to ask, and I tell them what it means to me, and they still want to apply things it doesn't mean to me, again that's their problem. I'd have no reason to change just because they have predetermined opinions on what it means to me.

The Palestinians view the Israeli flag as a symbol of a nation/people who indiscriminately kill the former inhabitants who only want to recapture what was stolen from them. So, should the Israeli flag be discarded because some people choose to see it in that light?

I'm not aware of anyone I know who claims the Dixie Chicks can't say what they want to say. The DC's may have to suffer the consequences of those actions in any manner of ways, and that's freedom of speech, too. But I say let them say what they want to say.

As far as taking up arms against the USA, I'm under no illusions that the USA will last forever, eventually it will end up in the dust bin of history. IMO it's going to start with a state or a group of states deciding they don't want to participate anymore, and eventually they'll succesfully break away, and the dominoes will start to fall, and then the victors will write the history. Good thing or bad thing? Guess it depends on what the issues are at the time.

I always thought they were called love bugs. Either way...they suck. I remember using an ice scraper every 10 miles down I-10 between New Orleans and Beaumont on the little bastards.

I have a hard time calling them love bugs when the female always looks like she'd rather be watching television.
