Step Four: Challenge Lightbulb Makers

Remember our energy revolution?

Greenpeace is conducting high level talks with some of the world's largest lightbulb companies - including Philips, Osram, GE and SLI Sylvania - and asking them to stop making energy wasting lightbulbs by 2010. The more customers they also hear from, the more likely they'll listen.

So for step 4, please add your voice by signing their petition.

Some of these companies want to keep selling even the most wasteful lightbulbs for another decade. That's way too long to wait! An estimated 32 million tons of carbon dioxide is pumped into the atmosphere EVERY YEAR thanks to the extra energy needs of wasteful lightbulbs.

A good day for outinleftfield. An appropriate picture and some thought provoking/funny stuff. Stuff you know about. Stuff that matters. :-)

Its unfortunate how many people I talk to about these compact flourescent bulbs, and they either dont believe me, or are just too lazy and complacent to buy the new bulbs. Some others even only think short term.

My whole house has CLF's, and our electric bill average is only about $100 a month for a 2000 sf house.

My wife's sister, who believes the 'Gore' acle, doesnt even attempt to listen to my things, her avg electricity bill is $330 per month for a 1500 sf house. Also, in the same sentence as "we need to stop using all oil", she mentions they are buying a Dodge dakota (17 mpg).

I guess that Im the doer that barely talks about it, and some people are the talkers that never do anything about it...
