What's Wrong With America?

From last night's debate, here's Obama shining on through...

I find it amusing that those who helped to authorize and engineer the biggest foreign policy disaster in our generation are now criticizing me for making sure that we are on the right battlefield and not the wrong battlefield in the war against terrorism.

And an important question (dare you not to cry) with John Edwards rockin' the free world...

So many important issues. So many ways to be proud of our Democratic candidates. And so many opportunities to press them to do more.

Yet this liberal loony, big ups to reader "rw" for spotting and sending it along to me, posts his/her nonsense over at DemocraticUnderground regarding such an important dialogue...
Watched the AFL-CIO "debate" today. Here’s my thoughts.

PULEASE! in a word. This crap is way too soon to be meaningful, but I
appreciate Keith Olberman trying to reign in the horses.

Obama is losing his foothold - He's a warmonger. He wants to escalate the
war. And he's losing his smooth talking bump. For now I'll write it off as
inexperience, at worst he's a DLC b*tch.

Hilary - STFU C*NT, no one is listening to your sh*t - right left or
center. I want a woman President TODAY. YOU are not that woman, you corporate
whoring right wing piece of SH*T.

Richardson - GAWD I want to like you, but I just can't. Get your sh*t
together on immigration and I just might send you 10 bucks.

Edwards - you dun good, son! You spoke on human rights. Your answers were
down the line a Democrat. That is refreshing.

Kucinich - What is there to say. I love you Dennis. Always and Forever!!
You speak for me, every single day! You are the liberal I aspire to be!

Biden - You share my anger, but you are a weak speaker.

Dodd - you have the correct idea about Iraq but you are also a weak
speaker. And I loved the comment about the Saudis! You need to fight back HARDER
against Obama! I feel your passion, but he owned you.

There ya have my review!

Can someone go over there and tell these people the Anarchists United for Planet Zupteria called and want to give them all free memberships?

They're as nutty as the neocons who think global warming is a hoax.

Since your being nice [except for the global warming hoax thingy :) ], I'll refrain from further comments on how I've found this poster and others like her at DU to be among the more true to their principles liberal that I've read.

Are there truly any here among you that don't believe Dennis Kucinich would best represent the totality of all your liberal viewpoints and, if it were possible, you'd like him to become prez?

Maybe I should ask this first: Do you consider the DLC type candidate to be Republican-lite? Because if you do, then Clinton and Obama are the candidates most closely delivering their message. I'm pretty sure this DU poster is getting tired of corporate Democratic candidates, thus the less than stellar comments regarding Obama.

My argument isn't with Loony's overall premise.

Dennis Kucinich is the kind of candidate who represents *most* of my views. What I'm struggling with is whether to vote for the ones who could get elected (I truly believe they would be better than anyone the Repubs are touting) or vote for the one that truly represents my ideals even though he/she isn't going to win.

My problem with the posted "review" is the problem I have with most fanatics on either side of any issue, religion, or political point of view. There is no intelligent discussion with them. No thought-provoking humor. They're not interested in solutions. Just nastiness and vitriol - which is what turns people off regarding politics as a whole. In other words - loony does not add to the dialogue. He/She takes away from it.

OK, I fully understand that turns people off. It is, however, DU and they do feel more free to voice themselves in ways they might not necessarily do in public. And it is your top "Linkers For Thinkers."

I could bring over a link from there right now that says in paraphrase "You're either a Democrat that's liberal or get out; DLCers that means you." This has been a common theme there and on several LW blogs and pol sites I've read for quite a while.

But I gather from what you're saying is that a lot of Dem voters are willing to forgo principles for victory (I just mean that in a general way). IOW better Republican-lite than Republican. Certainly something to consider, but then the complaining and disappointment continues after Republican-lite is in office and does things they don't like (NAFTA, welfare reform, DOMA, corporate whoredom, etc...). If I'm wrong I would like further clarification should you be able (I know you're trying to get moved in).

The pattern seems to be this: They're angry and want change. Then they push for their ideal candidate. Then when they don't win you get, "You know, we let the party lead us to Republican-lite (DLC) in order to win, but then we end up all too often grabbing our ankels for the next 4 to 8 years." Then they're not really sure how to change it, so they vote DLC anyway. And then the anger starts again.

Liberal loonies are going to be pissed no matter what - they're fanatics. Similar to right wing fanatics who vote for Repubs because they want certain things done. Both groups are disappointed when their annointed one gets the shaft for a more moderate voice or the things their annointed one promises don't happen.

I don't think I'd say "a lot of Dem voters are willing to forgo principles for victory." Victory isn't the game for me - certain legislation, maybe, which wouldn't get passed unless a Dem is in office. So if my party nominates someone with whom I disagree - the amount of which I disagree with them is still less than if I voted conservative.

I would rather some good things get done than none at all. That's what separates me from the loony left.

Well, that and the ability to shave and dress nicely. Plus I brush my teeth.

We must be talking about two different subjects or two different Democratic Party's or something.

Maybe another similar topic will come up at a later date and I can make my point more clearly.

Now, off to see the Jason Bourne (sp?) movie.

Kate you are a true far left winger who supports anti-american candidates like Dennis-Dumbo Ears-Kucinich, and John-I talk out of both sides of my mouth-Edwards.

Please take a look at Australia and New Zealand – they are both under British system. They have many things in common:

• If you want to complain about the product/service of a private company, contact the company by email, phone or mail. Someone in the company will reply to you shortly, often by mail. On the bottom of the letter, you are not just given this person’s name and contact numbers, but an upper authority’s name and contact number, plus the name of the government departments if you are still not happy. Private companies are usually eager to solve the problems to consumers’ satisfaction, or they will soon out of business.

• If you want to complain a government officer, you can always find the personal that is in charge of complaint on their website. This person is always from a separate department. They always take it seriously and always write you letters. In the letter, you are also given the name of his/her superior to ensure your case is being properly overlooked. If you thank them for their fairness, they will smile and tell you: “Don’t thank me. It’s my job. I’m hired to do this.” They thank you for pointing out their flaws.

• Government monitors businesses closely. Misleading advertising is a serious charge. Dishonest companies and their owners are soon blacklisted. Their wrong-doings are published on official websites for public to view for free. Dishonest companies close doors fast. People in these countries say what they mean, mean exactly what they say.

• Government sees seniors and investors vulnerable and pay extra attention to ensure they are not misled and ripped off. Once found, economic losses will be recovered and the crooks will be prosecuted. You can rarely find crooks in these countries.

• The public believes in fairness. They believe that bad people should be punished and innocent people should be protected. They believe only that way they can live a good life. Although their world is not perfect, everyone is willing to go extra miles to “make it a better world”. As a result, there are many government watchdogs established by people like you and me, simply for the purpose of having the law enforced. You often hear them saying “money is not the most important. It is your lifestyle”.

• The government looks after its people. You don’t see seniors being forced to sell their houses simply because their retirement income cannot cover the sky-rocked land tax.

• You only see ordinary leaders or ordinary people in these countries. It does not matter who the leader is. Employees are well trained. They do not have to excel. They just need to follow the guides. It is the system that makes everything in order. British system is thoroughly considered, well managed and constantly improved. You can also find British system shines in Britain, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong.

• They only accept immigrants with “good character”. Crooks are always reported, blacklisted, deported and can never enter these countries. That explains why people in these countries are super nice and “pure”. Those who do not comply with law are all kicked away! Where do those bad people go? Well, they go to countries that give them total freedom…

There are many great spirits in this country. America is the only country that goes extra miles to help other countries in history.

But you got to look after your own people.

If your people's own living environment deteriorates, you will no longer being looked up to.
