I've Been Called A Communist, Racist, Republican
Even been called a b*tch once or twice.
Fine. To each his own.
But nobody - NOBODY - calls me paunchy.
Put this in your pipe and suck it.
And then get out and vote.
That's right. VOTE.
Where parenting and politics meet, but don't always play nice.

There's a "saluting the flag" remark to be made here, but I won't be the one to make it.

Thank goodness (or dammit, some readers would say) that there weren't any doubting/insulting blog comments last year when you were writing about bikini waxes. :)
You've inspired me to convert to vegetarianism now. Or at least to take a long walk after eating a steak.
Patriotism never looked so good.
Friend identifies teen killed in car chase
2 dead, 2 hurt in Springs shooting

It was quiet this morning near the intersection of Murray Boulevard and Crestline Drive, where a shooting Monday afternoon left two teens dead and two others injured, one critically.
A sunflower and cross were left near a lamp post, barely visible to passersby.
The police tape was gone and the Colorado Springs Police Department scheduled a news conference for this afternoon. It released no new details of the crime this morning.
But the teen who was shot and killed by a gunman who later killed himself was identified by a friend as Mike Fisher, a senior at Wasson High School.
Chester Yonushewski, 18, and his mother Laurie, brought a bouquet of yellow roses to the shooting scene and talked about Chester’s friend, who went by “Fish.”
Fisher had spent the night at Yonushewski’s house Friday and nothing appeared out of the ordinary. The two friends played soccer together at Wasson their sophomore year, and worked together at a Wendy’s restaurant.
Yonushewski said Fisher was a happy and funny kid, always telling jokes. He wanted to be a ski instructor. He said Fisher attended Horace Mann Middle School and would have graduated from Wasson next spring.
Fisher died at the scene Monday after the Subaru sport utility vehicle he usually drove was rammed by another man who was chasing them. The assailant shot Fisher and another teen, who was in critical condition on Monday. Police have not released a condition update.
A teen girl who was with Fisher and the other teen was beaten by the assailant, who shot himself to death as police closed in.
The victims had called 911 saying they were being chased about 1:20 p.m. at San Miguel Street and Academy Boulevard, police said.
They were trying to reach the Sand Creek police substation, police said, when the gunman, driving a Chevrolet Suburban, caught up to them.
The young woman’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
The midday shooting unfolded in front of people driving past and passersby in the residential neighborhood.
Stephanie Edwards said she was walking nearby when she saw the gunman shoot two other young men.
“I feel helpless. I just saw two lives taken,” said Edwards, who lives in the area and had been walking to Safeway.
Felina Swaba was driving south on Murray with her brother, Phillip Swaba, when she saw the woman being beaten in the field.
Felina Swaba said she got out of her car and started screaming at the assailant to stop and saying she was going to call police.
“I thought he was going to shoot her,” Felina Swaba said.
Her brother told her to back off. “I told her, ‘Stop, he’s got a shotgun,’” Phillip Swaba said.
At that point the gunman saw a gathering crowd and a police officer arriving, and shot himself, Felina Swaba said.
The woman was able to walk away under her own power, Felina Swaba said. The girl was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police said the victims may have known the gunman, but would not elaborate.
The killing is the 21st homicide in Colorado Springs this year.
