Fun Conversations with Co-Workers (Part Two)
Co-Worker #1 loves coming into my classroom with fears of President Hillary Clinton dancing in his head.
And I'm supposed to comfort him how? I mean, I'd prefer President John Edwards. But given the choice between Huckabee, Rudy, Mitt on the right and Hillary, Edwards, or Obama on the left - I'd choose left any day of the week.
Really, who wants creepy minister/politician with the creepy floating cross/bookcase in the background all large and in charge? Not me.
Co-Worker #1 also likes to discuss religion. Dude is in it to win it. His holiday card even gave thanks that "we're all able to commemorate our Savior's birth."
Cracks me up.
Anyway, the other day we were talking about the wonders of the Lord (rather, he was talking and I was politely nodding and smiling - which always encourages crazy talk) and I agreed with him about something.
Dude almost passed out.
"I think Christianity did a great job," I said, "of bringing monotheism to the masses."
"Why didn't Judaism do that?" he said. "I mean, that's why God chose them, right? They were supposed to be a light for other nations and they really just kept to themselves. They were sort of elite about it, weren't they?"
I could have gone on about how Judaism didn't appeal to the masses because of its emphasis on behavior. The masses being lazy asses and all. But, instead, I shook my head and explained something called *antisemitism*.
I am a teacher after all.
We discussed the hatred for a small group of people who wouldn't worship or bow down to false idols. People who were enslaved for hundreds of years. People who were made to give up their land, take jobs no one else wanted, and the jealousy and hatred that rose up when those people thrived. We talked about how the Inquisition, pogroms, and that pesky Holocaust all may have had something to do with "keeping to ourselves." Kinda hard to convert the planet when said planet wants you dead.
Elite? Had nothing to do with it. Compassionate, conservative Christians love to blame the victim.
"I'm not saying elite is bad," he said. "If I were part of a group that God chose for great things, I might be a bit full of myself too."
"We're not full of ourselves because we're God's chosen people. We're full of ourselves because we know better than to buy retail. And anyway, chosen doesn't mean we'd get great things - obviously. It means we have a responsibility to care for the planet, ourselves, and others. This is God's world. And we take that position seriously. You might flaunt that kind of position if you were in it, fine. Just one of many ways we're better than you."
Gonna miss defending my life choices for a few weeks. Whatever will I do to keep busy...

What's REALLY "creepy" is the thought of rapist (admittedly unconvicted, but CLEARLY a sexual harasser at the very minimum) Bill Clinton back in the White House in any kind of way other than taking the tourist tour.
Since when is a rapist the same as a sexual harasser?
Are you nuts?
And to whom is President Clinton, who is doing so much good in the world regarding AIDS work in Africa among other issues, CLEARLY a harasser? You? The rest of the Fox News crowd?
Let your opinions out, no matter how flawed and lacking logic, but you shouldn't just throw out charges that are false.
Come on. You're better than that.
Aren't you?
I saw an old Clinton campaign button that made me laugh: Blow jobs are better than no jobs. As a card-carrying democrat, I've always preferred the good old democrat way of screwing the country one person at a time, rather than the republican method of screwing millions at a time.
In a completely unrelated matter, I really enjoyed the thought-provoking post today.
OH, come on. Surely, you can't be that willfully ignorant of the multiple incidents of sexual harassment on the part of Bill Clinton. And I'm not talking about how he took advantage of a young White House intern to get blowjobs, either. Wake up. The guy is a pure sleazeball with no respect for women whatsoever.
And the fact that he goes out and makes a show of how much he works for a charity doesn't change the fact that he is a sexual harasser of the nastiest sort.
RESOLVED that William Jefferson Clinton, President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following articles of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate:
ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT EXHIBITED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN THE NAME OF ITSELF AND OF THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AGAINST WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT OF ITS IMPEACHMENT AGAINST HIM FOR HIGH CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS.
Article 1: Perjury before Independent Counsel Ken Starr's grand jury.
In his conduct while President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has willfully corrupted and manipulated the judicial process of the United States for his personal gain and exoneration, impeding the administration of justice, in that:
On August 17, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton swore to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth before a Federal grand jury of the United States. Contrary to that oath, William Jefferson Clinton willfully provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony to the grand jury concerning one or more of the following:
(1) the nature and details of his relationship with a subordinate Government employee;
(2) prior perjurious, false and misleading testimony he gave in a Federal civil rights action brought against him;
(3) prior false and misleading statements he allowed his attorney to make to a Federal judge in that civil rights action; and
(4) his corrupt efforts to influence the testimony of witnesses and to impede the discovery of evidence in that civil rights action.
In doing this, William Jefferson Clinton has undermined the integrity of his office, has brought disrepute on the Presidency, has betrayed his trust as President, and has acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.
Wherefore, William Jefferson Clinton, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States.

(1) On December 23, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton, in sworn answers to written questions asked as part of a Federal civil rights action brought against him, willfully provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony in response to questions deemed relevant by a Federal judge concerning conduct and proposed conduct with subordinate employees.
(2) On January 17, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton swore under oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth in a deposition given as part of a Federal civil rights action brought against him. Contrary to that oath, William Jefferson Clinton willfully provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony in response to questions deemed relevant by a Federal judge concerning the nature and details of his relationship with a subordinate Government employee, his knowledge of that employee's involvement and participation in the civil rights action brought against him, and his corrupt efforts to influence the testimony of that employee.
In all of this, William Jefferson Clinton has undermined the integrity of his office, has brought disrepute on the Presidency, has betrayed his trust as President, and has acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.
Wherefore, William Jefferson Clinton, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States.

Article 3: Obstruction of Justice related to the Jones case.
In his conduct while President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice, and has to that end engaged personally, and through his subordinates and agents, in a course of conduct or scheme designed to delay, impede, cover up, and conceal the existence of evidence and testimony related to a Federal civil rights action brought against him in a duly instituted judicial proceeding.
The means used to implement this course of conduct or scheme included one or more of the following acts:
(1) On or about December 17, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly encouraged a witness in a Federal civil rights action brought against him to execute a sworn affidavit in that proceeding that he knew to be perjurious, false and misleading.
(2) On or about December 17, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly encouraged a witness in a Federal civil rights action brought against him to give perjurious, false and misleading testimony if and when called to testify personally in that proceeding.
(3) On or about December 28, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly engaged in, encouraged, or supported a scheme to conceal evidence that had been subpoenaed in a Federal civil rights action brought against him.
(4) Beginning on or about December 7, 1997, and continuing through and including January 14, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton intensified and succeeded in an effort to secure job assistance to a witness in a Federal civil rights action brought against him in order to corruptly prevent the truthful testimony of that witness in that proceeding at a time when the truthful testimony of that witness would have been harmful to him.
(5) On January 17, 1998, at his deposition in a Federal civil rights action brought against him, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly allowed his attorney to make false and misleading statements to a Federal judge characterizing an affidavit, in order to prevent questioning deemed relevant by the judge. Such false and misleading statements were subsequently acknowledged by his attorney in a communication to that judge.
(6) On or about January 18 and January 20-21, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton related a false and misleading account of events relevant to a Federal civil rights action brought against him to a potential witness in that proceeding, in order to corruptly influence the testimony of that witness.
(7) On or about January 21, 23 and 26, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton made false and misleading statements to potential witnesses in a Federal grand jury proceeding in order to corruptly influence the testimony of those witnesses. The false and misleading statements made by William Jefferson Clinton were repeated by the witnesses to the grand jury, causing the grand jury to receive false and misleading information.
(Approved 21-16 by the House Judiciary Committee on Friday, December 11, 1998)
(Passed 221-212 in the House of Representatives at 1:59 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 1998)
Article 4: Abuse of Power by making perjurious statements to Congress in his answers to the 81 questions posed by the Judiciary Committee.
Using the powers and influence of the office of President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in disregard of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has engaged in conduct that resulted in misuse and abuse of his high office, impaired the due and proper administration of justice and the conduct of lawful inquiries, and contravened the authority of the legislative branch and the truth-seeking purpose of a coordinate investigative proceeding in that, as President, William Jefferson Clinton, refused and failed to respond to certain written requests for admission and willfully made perjurious, false and misleading sworn statements in response to certain written requests for admission propounded to him as part of the impeachment inquiry authorized by the House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States.
William Jefferson Clinton, in refusing and failing to respond, and in making perjurious, false and misleading statements, assumed to himself functions and judgments necessary to the exercise of the sole power of impeachment vested by the Constitution in the House of Representatives and exhibited contempt for the inquiry.
Katherine Wiley.
Ha! I love it. Seven years after he left office, Bill Clinton is STILL the biggest threat on some people's plates. Talk about your finger pointing. Still, it's good to know that we can confidently point the finger at Bush for at least the next eight years and blame all bad things on him as well.
Bill Clinton never caused the death of over 3,000 Americans and probably hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.
consensual blow job vs. Iraq
I'll say it, complete fuckin' moronic callous assholes find a way to balance that.
People are DYING fuck heads.
whew, I feel better.
Ah, politics! My grandma told me the surest way to get into an argument was to discuss sex, politics or religion. We get it all in one posting. I love this blogsite!
Be Christlike, Anon. Be Christlike.
Yeah? Well, first of all, I ain't a Christian. Second, when some SOB comes on and calls me "fuck head," then he or she deserves everything I give in return....and having been a Marine for a number of years, I like to think I'm pretty good at the giving of that kind of thing.
One thing everyone who reads this blog can count on is kate gets off on mocking christianity.
If it is true that jews are the consummate martyrs as she recently outlined then she has a steadfast defense, which adds to to the fun she has doing it.
Calling her a crusader for Judaism may ironically be appropriate.
How many died because he refused to take Osama Bin Laden into custody?
Oh yes, lets play that game, shall we? How many died because Reagan built Saddam Hussein and financed him in a proxy war with Iran? How many died because Reagan created Osama bin Laden, again to fight a proxy war between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. in Afghanistan, and ignoring the rise of militant Islam because at the time it harried the commies? How many died because Bush The Elder left the job in Iraq "half finished" when he had his go at it? Do you really want to do this, Anon, because frankly, there's plenty of finger to point if you want to get right down to it.
And, for the record, according to the Bosnian Institute, the death toll for the 1992-1995 war was between 100,000 and 150,000. The Norwegian news agency, NTB, put the final total in 2004 at around 102,000 casualties, 55,261 civilians and 47,360 military.
The war in Iraq has claimed anywhere from 85,947 civilians killed according to Iraqbodycount.org to 655,000 civilians killed according to a joint American and Iraqi team study in 2006, not including Coalition forces killed. And the war continues to this day.
None of these figures factor in wounded. If you do that, the numbers climb even higher.
Shame on you for trying to establish a hierarchy of suffering to further a political agenda.
OH, it's only when Republicans have a hand in warfare that we're going to count causulties, eh? Now THAT is worthy of shame.
You opened the dirty little door, Anonymous, so don't act all surprised at what comes into your house and takes a shit on your sofa.
I even gave you specific figures on Bosnia, whereas all you managed to do was whine pathetically about how Clinton is a bigger monster than Bush, basically pulling the same thing you accuse me of, except you only seem interested in counting bodies when a Democrat is in office. Your charges are off base. At best you're shockingly disingenuous and logically stunted and at worst utterly hypocritical and rabidly partisan. I'll let you decide where your damage lies.
My boy quakerjono's wicked smaaaht
tiny frightened by culinary heat maligned anonymous ex-marine, tiny now properly aligned.
tiny stand corrected,
blow job does equal Iraq.
tiny not tiny...
The country is doomed if we keep believing in party lines. We fight amongst ourselves because we are sheep following whatever politicians tell us. You lable yourselves dems, right left, republicans. Neither one is the right way too go. They are all the same Politicians have our middle-class ass in a sling. Someone grow a pair. Just because your in one camp doesn't make the other one always wrong. Or your always right.
