Please consider bringing one or more of the following items for "care packages" for soldiers presently in Iraq and Afghanistan:
--New, unopened packets of razors,
--small cans of shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, deodorant, bar soap, liquid hand sanitizer, wet wipes, etc.
Also, small snack items like:
--crackers, tuna salad, vienna sausages, sardines, beef jerky, chewing gum, candy bars, etc.
They'd also appreciate:
--Paperback books, small key-chain flashlights with batteries, notepads, pens, pencils, GI wool socks, GI t-shirts, etc.
And other things you may wish to bring suitable for soldiers far from home.
Like porn. That's what I'd want.
Everyone is invited. They especially want to hear from spouses, families, and friends of veterans about experiences with loved ones who are veterans. What was it like waiting for them to come home? What has it been like since they've been back?
Come talk about it.

If I was anywhere near the area, I'd come out for it and share our experience.
Be careful with porn. It can be confiscated. Technically, it violates the laws in the area. People often find ways around it, but you don't want to give them any reason to start taking stuff.
Dh has a friend who was a cop and whose father sent him his old handcuffs to use only to have them taken. They were a family heirloom.
You know this is the same list we got at my school (sans the porn.) Er, shouldn't our soldiers already have razors and deodorant? I hate to ask, but are we telling Uncle Sam it's ok to go invading parts all over the world even when we obviously can't afford it? I'm just asking.
You have a point.
And I was kidding about sending porn overseas to our soldiers.
Send it to me instead.
