Did you ever notice that Jay Leno had a lot of "Tampa" stories? Like the Pasco Fruitcake lady, and some of the other interesting stories that make you scratch your head and say, WHY are you showing this? Well, I think the answer to this is because David Letterman's sister is an editor/writer for the St. Petersburg Times and they (Leno) pay close attention to us so he is not scooped by his rival.
Just my thoughts.
You know, Jersey, you reminded me something that happened in my neighborhood in the 1990's...
OK, Palm Harbor is the 'Burbs. Deep in them. Nothing special at all. Just Suburbs. So the opening of a Wendy's on the way to my High School was a huge thing to some of us because we rode past the construction every day while going to school.
A neighbor of mine named Ian, one of several delinquents in the neighborhood, got himself in the paper by being the first person to ever buy something from that Wendy's restaurant. He got in the paper and said proudly that he skipped school in order to do it.
Which got him suspended.
Someone in the area does have ties to Jay Leno because they tipped him off of the story. So what happens? Jay doesn't just bring it up, he gets Ian on the phone and does an interview on air. He ends up sending Ian a bunch of coupons for Wendy's too.
