How Ridiculous Are These Guys? Ongoing

I'm wondering - who should I vote for in November? Because the more I look around at Democratic leaders, the more I want to throw up.

Barack Obama pushes ethanol, even though it's not the answer, because he's from Illinois and ADM put BIG money in his coffers.

Nancy Pelosi, on Meet the Press this weekend, foamed about natural gas, even though it's not the answer. Turns out she has invested between $50 - $100,ooo of her own money in natural gas and will make massive profits should this "take off" like she's hoping it will.

Joe Biden voted to make it more difficult for people to claim bankruptcy. His son earned over $100K that year as a consultant to the credit card industry. Boy, weren't they pleased when it passed.

AT&T threw a huge party Sunday night in Denver to thank the Democrats who helped give the company immunity for wiretapping American citizens illegally.

I usually cringe when people say that politicians are all crooks, that the process is equally corrupt. "Back it up," I demand.

Sigh.

Now I can back it up myself.

With Nancy Pelosi, it's not just the money I worry about. From your link:

I'm investing in something I believe in. I believe in natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels.

Uh, Nancy...natural gas IS a fossil fuel! Maybe the name fooled her.

Kate, you're starting to think like the McCain people want you to think. McCain really is the best of the Republicans, but he still isn't as good as Obama (in spite of everything). Here's the really insidious thing: The rich, overwhelmingly bland republicans are actually making people think that Obama is just like they are and that "Mavrick" McCain is the one that is different. Chew on that for a minute; take a breath, and vote for Obama.

While we're at it -- take a moment and recall 2000.

I started buying the line that Dems and Republicans were the same bunch... This to serve as a cherry on top of my disgust at the idea of another 4 years of Clinton (I was sick of that administration and all the scandals and such).

I think the last eight years proved there is a difference... And that one vote -- that one protest vote -- that shouldn't matter, actually does... Cuz of all the people who were thinking "It's just a single vote, what difference does it make" on election day 2000, the entire direction of the country could have ended up going in another way.

I'm not going to vote for McCain. I'm to the *left* of my party, not right.

And I agree that one vote matters. My party should have thought about a great many "one votes" when they began their long climb to the middle.

If we're not on the people's side, perhaps I should find a party that is.

Damn those rich, bland republicans and their evil (yet bland) mind controlling ways!

You might want to turn the drama down a notch, Dave (unless Kate is a rich, bland republican in disguise (HA!)).

John, you're a good guy, and I know you're proud to call yourself a Republican. Certainly you are not bland.

Kate: I voted left of the Democratic brand in 2000... And I also stand by idea that Gore's race to the middle was part of the reason he lost votes to Nader.

Another reason I voted 3rd party in 2000 was the idea of party-building. "With five percent of the vote, we qualify for federal matching funds!" I liked that concept of voting for something bigger than myself but I forgot that there was something bigger than the party as well.

Thanks bunches, Dave.

At least I'm still insidious (if not rich).
